I learned the hard way that pressing matters. Do the seams of your strip set curve? There are two main causes for this. One is that you stretched the fabric while you were sewing (or the machine did it for you). Carefully feed your strip sets through the machine - match edges but do not pull on either top or bottom. If you have an even-feed foot, it can help. Aligning the edges and giving them a light press before you sew can also help. The second cause is 'aggressive pressing'. When you press, you should press the seam as it comes off the sewing machine. This will set the stitches and create some friction with the ironing board. Then, you can open the seam.
