The Morning Star, or Lone Star, quilt design appeals to most quilters.  Among the Lakota (Sioux), it has a rich and diverse history and use.

 

This presentation will place the Morning Star quilt in a Lakota historical context and introduce the incredible diversity of design among Native American quilters.  We will also explore some of the cultural uses of the Morning Star quilt.

The Morning Star or Lone Star quilt design appeals to most quilters.

 

This workshop presents the reverse-repeat layout of the Morning Star quilt.  Admittedly, this workshop requires some stamina, however, my students will have the skills required to finish the quilt top by the end of a 6 hour workshop.
