Presentations & Workshops Contract

A signed copy of this document must be part of any agreement between Michele Berman and your group. ALL requested information must be filled out, signed by you, and returned to Blue Hills Farm Quilts no later than 60 days prior to Michele's departure for your venue. Please contact Michele to set preliminary dates and to reserve your spot in Michele's schedule. However, her schedule may change without notice until a contract is received.

Please note: prices are set upon returning the completed contract to Michele. A signed contract locks in your fees. If your organization has not sent in the contract, and prices change, your organization will be responsible for the fees current at the time of contract submission.

Michele is responsible for sending any necessary supplies lists for workshops.

  

Fees for Presentations and Workshops:
Most presentations are illustrated with power-point presentation and actual quilts.

Presentation fee: $300 plus expenses.
Presentations last approximately one hour + Q&A.
I will need two volunteers to hold quilts and a table to lay quilts on; a second table and electricity are needed for the projector and laptop.

Workshops are scheduled for approximately 6 hours with a break in the middle for lunch.

Fees for all workshops are based on up to 20 students. If you have more than 20 students, there is an additional fee of $45.00 per student for the workshop.
Workshop fee:  $500 plus lodging and travel expenses. 

A copy of the Instruction sheets will be sent to the contact person via e-mail (or snail mail if e-mail is unavailable).  The contact person will distribute the Instruction sheets to all workshop attendees.

Presentations and Workshops can be combined for consecutive days. Please contact Michele for details.

• If your organization or shop is within 60 miles of Kensington, CT, no lodging will be required, except in the event of bad weather, but round-trip mileage is required at the current federal rate.
• Locations farther than 60 miles from Kensington, CT may require lodging and round-trip mileage at the current federal rate. Distances more than 500 miles in any direction from Kensington, CT may also include lodging along the way in your organization expenses.
• For long distance Presentations and workshops requiring airfare, organizations are responsible for reimbursement of the purchased ticket as soon as tickets are purchased. A receipt will be provided to your organization for reimbursement. Tickets are non-refundable in the event of a cancellation. Organizations are also responsible for other expenses such as fees for checked baggage.
• If my presentation or workshop materials need to be shipped to your location, the organization is responsible for all shipping expenses in getting the quilts to your location, and in returning them back to me in Kensington, CT.
• workshop’s attendance two weeks prior to the workshop, please contact me and let me know the status of how many students you do have.  We may be able to continue the workshop as scheduled if enough have signed up.
• If for any reason the organization needs to cancel this contract within 30 days from the initial request time, there will be no cancellation fee.  If the organization cancels after 30 days, the organization will be responsible for paying a $50.00 cancellation fee.
• If there are conditions beyond our control (blizzard, hurricane, death in the family, etc) the contract may be terminated without a penalty payment assessed by either party. A rescheduling of the program may be an option.
• If this contract meets with your approval, please sign and return one copy of this contract to Michele Berman. Print a second copy for your records.

Machine (hand-guided) Stipple Quilting Service

 

Can I quilt your quilt?

Is one dimension at least 54”?

Are both dimensions less than 100”?

If so, then, I can quilt your quilt.

 

I have a medium arm sewing machine on an Inspira frame.  This presents some limitations; variables such as size, batting and backing must be communicated in advance.  No one, especially you, likes surprises.

 

I provide a medium stipple.  Keeping it simple is the key to the successful completion of your quilt if you want it Simply Quilted.

 

Machine quilters have preferences.  Here are mine.  These preferences will not exclude my willingness to quilt your quilt but will enhance the product you receive.

 

• Scrimmed batting
• Low to Medium Loft batting
• Squared top and backing
• Cotton machine quilting thread
• Backing Fabric must be 6” longer and wider than your quilt top.

I will entertain other variables. 

As stated previously, my quilting machine has limitations and certain combinations must be avoided. 

For example, I cannot quilt a queen size quilt with a high loft batting (or backing).

 

 

Please communicate the details of the materials that you are providing in advance.

 

Additional charges may be applied if the following conditions exist.

 

·         Quilt top requires pressing¹

·         Backing fabric requires pressing¹

·         Backing fabric is not square

·         Lettuce borders

·         Unsewn seams
